Stone Mountain Handbags:  What IS the big deal?

In 1978, two Atlantans birthed an idea that became Stone Mountain Accessories.  The leather and fabric handbag products that they manufactured 30 years ago are still in demand.  (Our customers come from all over the world.)  Bags that aren't still in use make their way through the estate sale circuit.

Stone Mountain Handbags originated near Stone Mountain Park (next to the village of Stone Mountain, outside Atlanta), which surrounds what is believed to be the largest mass of exposed granite in the world.  Hence the name, Stone Mountain Handbags.  (Be sure to visit the inventory at Amazon.)

Ownership changes occurred over the years, and the flagship store in the Village closed temporarily.  In August 2008 the owner of The Postmaster's Collection, off Main Street, called the national office of Stone Mountain Handbags, hoping to bring the retail business back to town.  Their response?  "Wow, are we glad to hear from you!  People keep calling us to ask if they can buy Stone Mountain Handbags in Stone Mountain."

Thus The Postmaster's Collection found its target market.  Fully half our customers come from places outside Georgia.  Shoppers come in with stories of sitting down in a restaurant next to a woman who is also carrying a Stone Mountain Handbag.  Or strolling through an airport--that most anonymous of places--and spotting an identical bag carried by a total stranger.  The workmanship and quality are so great that sometimes 50-year old shoppers stop in and say, "Well, I guess this is the last Stone Mountain Handbag I'll ever buy!"

When you're in Atlanta, come visit us.  We have the latest bags in stock, the ones that aren't yet on virtual inventories.
